American Elle... Creating Supermodels?

Through all of my life as a fashion lover, i have warned others of the curse of American Elle. I believed that once an appearance has been made in the magazine, we would rarely see the model again. I was hungry to discover the reason why such a profitable magazine used such continues to use such minor faces. Today is the day that i eat my words.
Arguably the hottest newcomer of Spring 2008, Toni Garrn appeared in American Elle a full 6 months before opening the Calvin Klein show and scoring Calvin's Spring campaign.
Galliano favorite Ana Mihajlovic appeared in the magazine as her first major editorial back in 2005 and has since walked every major runway.
Girl of the moment Magdalena appeared in ELLE twice before landing the cover of Italian Vogue and closing Dior's dramatic Fall 2007 show. The most notable of my discoveries is the infamous Snejana, who shot with Gilles back in 2005 before appearing in all of the major Vogues, including two Italian vogue covers. Snejana has also appeared in campaigns for Lanvin, Dolce and Gabbana, and Prada to name a few.
Finally, One Model Management sweetheart Jenny Sweeney shot with Gilles Bensimon for ELLE before appearing on the cover of Italian vogue as well.
These five editorials make me wonder if ELLE is not a curse, but a blessing?
Could American Elle be the next Italian vogue of new faces? we'll have to wait and see...

yes, agyness was in US Elle a few years ago..I want to say as far back as 04, 03...I don't remember when, but you're right! And I agree, that looks SO different from the Magdelana I'm used to seeing...maybe the problem with Elle is just that they don't optimize the best looks the model has to offer...I mean, look at that first photo..she's so much greater than that normally!
