Top 10 Models from Fall 2008

Fall 2008 had the strongest presence of new faces i have seen in recent times, so how did i choose the ten most influential? When compiling my list i narrowed it down to about 25 girls and then painstakingly cut them out one by one until i had these ten. With no single agency dominating the catwalks, it gave all of the amazing girls who had not yet had their chance a major moment. All ten of these faces have been previously featured on The Clotheshorse, but now all eyes are on these ten as they fight for the few spots for new girls in the campaign and editorial races. keep watch as these are the ten most likely to succeed.

Georgina at Women was first featured back in early february when she was just becoming a strong force in New York and the options started pouring in for Milan. Those came through as this 5'11" Serbian with razor sharp features walked Prada, Marni, Jil Sander and Dolce & Gabbana. The momentum did not slow down come Paris as Georgina walked an average of 3 shows a day. Amongst those were Mcqueen, Dior, Galliano, Hermes, Givenchy, Valentino and Yves St Laurent. Her impressive run came to a total of 62 shows, no a bad first season, no? This expensive newcomer is going to be on everyone's must have list, Georgina is sure to be everywhere. One of the many major Comeback stories of Fall 2008 is Supreme's Iris Struebegger. This 5'11" chiseled stunner was featured here back in early december and has since conquered the runways of the world. Despite a slow start in New York, she finished the week with Marc Jacobs and Narciso Rodriquez. Then Milan and Dolce and Gabbana came. But Paris was where Iris hit her stride, walking for Balenciaga, Givenchy, Dries Van Noten, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Viktor & Rolf, Yves St Laurent and wearing the single most photographed outfit at Alexander McQueen (that headpiece!). With a Paris show list like that, Who can deny Iris' influence on the Fall 2008 season. And with Paul Rowland's genius Management behind her, Iris is going to be a career girl, not just a fad. This one's here to stay.
One of the two major stars from Next this season was Estonian knockout Karmen Pedaru. She was first featured here after she walked for Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan in New York. She then went on to London to walk every show, including Giles and Christopher Kane. Milan saw Marni , Alberta Feretti and Gucci but like many girls, Karmen excelled in Paris. McQueen, Chloe, Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, Kenzo, Galliano, Dior, Lagerfeld, Vuitton, Balenciaga and opening Yves St Laurent is nothing but a shocking show list for such a new face. But if you look those eyes, is it really such a surprise? This is a moment for Karmen, She's on everyone's must have list. But after 3 seasons in the business, why does this one belong to Karmen? Must be the talent behind Next. Malin Ones was among the top 5 girls who walked the most shows this season so why is it such a suprise that she is topping everyone's newcomer lists? This was Malin's first season ever and none of us saw it coming. I featured the stunner from Norway as a simple "Who's Next" back in january right before she exploded onto the show circuit. Malin was the girl who came with no buzz, no previous work and nobody expecting her to acheive what she did, but once you meet this girl, you'll understand why this season went the way it did for this 5'11" beauty. She started off in New York walking for Narciso Rodriguez, Proenza Schouler and Calvin Klein. then off to London for Giles and Christopher Kane amongst others. Milan had a Malin moment when she opened Just Cavalli and walked for Dolce & Gabbana. But once again in Paris, Marilyn's new star broke out into the big leagues with Balenciaga, Dior, Dries Van Noten, Givenchy, Vuitton and Ninca Ricci. Malin Ones walked a total of 59 shows this season, placing her alongside the show staples of the industry. Only time can tell if this show success will translate editorially but my money's on Malin right this minute...

Anna Gushina was most likely my favorite face from Prada's Spring 2008 collection. I featured her briefly in December as one of my favorite faces from IMG Paris. Others took notice of Anna's amazing face this season as she walked nearly every important show. Her first full season is reminiscent of a certain model named Kasia Strauss. Anna walked for Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriquez, Ralph Lauren, Rodarte, Calvin Klein and opened Proenza Schouler in New York. Milan was gushing about Gushina as she walked Alberta Feretti, Jil Sander, Fendi, Missoni, Belstaff and Prada. Anna also had a strong showing in Paris with Balenciaga, Chloe, Vuitton, Miu Miu and Yves St Laurent. Anna's Strong yet beautiful features make her a season standout with 51 shows now under her belt in a short 3 weeks. Anna is one of the most promising faces coming out of the Fall 2008 season, she's sure to do very well in the next few months. iMG really knows how to pick em'...
Choosing Next's Abbey Lee Kershaw as a season standout is a no-brainer. not since Meghan Collison has the world been buzzing about a girl so loudly before she even hits a runway. since being featured in December, Abbey has been seen in Ads for D&G and Lord and Taylor, as well as editorials ranging from Numero to Another Magazine. Abbey was the single girl that every designer in every city wanted on their show lineup, they just had to hzave her. That's why it was such a shock when this future superstar took a Gucci exclusive, simply brilliant management. not only did it give her some well needed rest during her busy season (averaging at 4 shows a day in New York). Abbey is one of the most versatile faces out there right now, walking for everything in New York from Calvin Klein to Marc Jacobs, and Rodarte to Ralph Lauren. then once she hit Paris, it seemed that abbey's exclusivity had made the French want her even more. Abbey walked Mcqueen, Chanel, Dior, Galliano, Lanvin, Vuitton, Valentino and Givenchy which she opened. It seemed like Abbey had been on the runways forever as she fit in perfectly with the vetrans. This girl isn't going anywhere anytime soon, absolutely a supermodel in the making. Alice Burdeau is one of the most well known models in Australia due to a certain reality show victory, but after being carefully instructed by Elite NY to never mention it again, Alice is well on her way to becoming one of the most well known models in the world. First featured here afer she made a lasting impression at Rad Hourani, this 6' tall red haired fox has become a fast favorite of designers worldwide. Alice started off her New York Season very slow, but was able to land two of the most major bookings, Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs. She tehn went on to a strong showing in London with Luella, Christopher Kane and Giles. Milan was Daks and Dolce for Alice, and a Jil Sander strut was the highlight of the week. Paris couldn't get enough however, Mcqueen, Lanvin, Vuitton, Dries Van Noten and Sophia Kokosalaki all agreed with Alice. It's not so much the caliber of the shows with Alice, even though they were of very high caliber, it is her overall look and versatility, it is getting people excited. You can bank on alice landing some very major editorials in the next couple months, she is finally living up to her Title of Australia's Next Top Model. Aline Weber at One is the Name on everybody's lips this season, a fantastic second coming. First featured here in early february then again 2 weeks ago, Aline has since made a serious splash. Aline was one of the models this season signaling the return to the women in modeling. Aline had a great New York Season with Calvin Klein, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez and Marc Jacobs while Milan was Good but nothing amazing. Paris was all about Aline however, She opened Balenciaga and walked everything including Lanvin, Vuitton, Hermes, Yves St Laurent, Dries Van Noten, Stella Mccartney and Chloe. This is the girl that people are talking about, wondering how she has been around for years and nobody has noticed her until now. this is not a girl or androgynous freak, this is a real, beautiful, brazilian women. Absolutely amazing.

Amanda Laine at supreme is my favorite face of the Fall 2008 season. This girl is the real deal. The first one to come out of an modeling competition and instantly be a serious success. First featured here after she popped up in Milan for Prada and Marni, Amanda since has become the most exciting new face in modeling. In Paris alone, she walked for Nina Ricci, Dries an Noten Givenchy and Sophia Kokosalaki. She closed Marc Jacob's Louis Vuitton and Opened Alexander McQueen as well as Miu Miu. AMAZING! Amanda is currently in Milan working some more for Prada (hint, hint) and will soon be seen in every major magazine and campaign, guaranteed. All the success is deserved for a face and body like that of course, let alone one of the best personalities. I not only know that Amanda will be crazy successful, but i hope that the success will come. This is a start of legends, making the V Magazine/Supreme model search one of the worlds leaders, can't wait to see who they find next year! Last but not least is the incredibly leggy Diana F at IMG. Clotheshorse readers first met Diana just before she took the Paris Couture shows by storm in early January and she since landed some of the biggest opportunities on todays Runways. Diana walked exclusively for Calvin Klein in New York this season, making her the focus of the collection alongside the ever so hot Toni Garnn. Then came Milan where Diana walked for Both Jil sander and Marni, a winning combination in the eyes of casting directors everywhere. The quirky Russian Blonde ended the season in Paris opening and closing Chloe and getting a perfect score on the final show sunday (Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci and Miu Miu). Diana's shows may have been few and far between, but this girls' exclusivity is going to be the key to her success. Diana is still the industry's best kept secret, but once they begin to discover her, they won't be able to keep their hands off.
